Edgardo Moreno studied music at the Royal Conservatory of Music and York University. He has traveled to Chile, Trinidad, Puerto Rico and Venezuela to study local musical traditions.
He has composed and produced music for Nazka's CD recording 'Write and Send Fruit' 1992 and 'Mi Camino' 1996. He has worked with choreographers Livia Daza-Paris, Alejandro Ronceria, Karen Kaeja, Norma Araiza, Allen Kaeja. Composed several pieces for international multidisciplinary festival 'CAONABO' in Venezuela 1994. He traveled to Sweden in September 1999, 1999, 2001 to create music for choreographer Allen Kaeja. Scored Permafrost for Laban Centre, London England. Adapted music for Allen Kaejas films Sarah, Witnessed, Zummel, Resistance, Old Country BRAVO. Dramas include Heathunter and Gummy, The Letter. He has written three seasons for television travel show Exploring Horizons (Outdoor and Life Network). He has also created and produced music for CBC, CITY TV, BRAVO, and a feature length documentaries El Contrato NFB, Doctors With Borders OMNI, Hitlers Canadians (History Channel), Chichesters Choice (TVO). Working for ACME productions creating music for clients that include IBM, Loblaws, Bravos Freedom Series.
Has previously worked extensively as an educator in schools throughout Ontario Arts Council Artists In Education and Residency grants. Has led workshops for the Toronto Symphony musicians for Adopt A Players program. He has worked for the Ontario Arts Education Institute as an Artist Leader instructing teachers in music pedagogy. National Ballet project 'Creating Dances 1994-2005. Distillary Arts Outreach project as artist and director 2005, 2006, 2007.
Edgardo Moreno has been performing in schools throughout Ontario in a Latin American ensemble called Maderaz since 1993. He has produced, arranged and recorded CD Musica 2005.
Edgardo Moreno has been awarded various grants. Ontario Arts Council Pop. Music 1992-1993,1997. Artists in Education 1993- 2002. Chalmers Study Grant, Toronto Arts Council Travel and Composers grants. He was a member of the Music Committee of the Toronto Arts Council 1995-1998. He has sat in various juries for the Canada Council, Ontario and Toronto Arts Councils. In 2002 he was nominated (as an emergent composer) for the Louis Applebaum composers award for work in film and television. Films Old Country and El Contrato have been nominated for Geminis.
